I relate SO HARD to all this about wanting to talk about a book most while you're drafting (it's when you're most obsessed with it!!) but also kinda not wanting to (because it feels vulnerable and it's still YOURS). I can't wait to hear more about your new book tho, and am so excited for all these fun events + Donut Summer news + everything coming up Anita!

"I never feel better about a book in its entire life than I do after finishing that first draft." YES. When it's at its most magical and its most mine. ❤️ Love this newsletter, love Penny & Mateo... but a Colorado event WHEN? I'm waiting, Anita!!

Oh wow, this was extremely relatable! 😭Really appreciate you putting this part into words because, yes, having to pretend to still LOVE characters you now know many people didn’t like is something I was not prepared for at all.

I feel like a constantly broken record, but Anita, you always make me feel less alone in this writing world and so completely understood. I resonated with EVERYTHING you said about drafting—literally all of it, down to feeling like I have to write the cleanest draft that ever existed. I wish our brains were gentler on us. I'm so proud of you for writing this book!! And I ADORE the Donut Summer swag with all my heart!!
