Heartwaves is available now <3
Hey, friends! This will be a quick newsletter, mostly to say that Heartwaves officially released this week, and should be available to purchase in ebook or paperback!
If you filled out my pre-order form for a signed paperback, I sent out the first batch this week, but more of y’all ordered than I originally expected (good problem to have, I know), so I’m currently waiting on more copies to come in. Which is to say, if you don’t receive your copy in the next week or so, please know that I’m working on it, and it will hopefully be on your doorstep as soon as I can make it happen!
If you didn’t pre-order but would still like a signed paperback copy, you can still purchase one at any time! It will now live alongside my other indie stuff on my Etsy.
Here are also links to two playlists that were essential to creating this book:
In reality, I listened to one playlist while I was drafting this book that was a mash-up of both of these, but as my work on this book came to a close it felt necessary to separate them, and to actually craft Jesús’s as its own perfect one-hour entity.
I have struggled as I’ve attempted to promote this book—it has been hard to not see self-publishing a book after a string of traditionally published books as a failure (the trajectory, typically, is supposed to go the other way), or that it’s a decision others would see as a failure—but when I tell you that over the last year of working on this book, I danced in my kitchen so. much. to these songs? And I know that, in the end, that’s all that really matters.
I’m hoping to spend a lot less time online this summer as I work on Luca’s book, be present in my life, continue to educate myself on the world, and re-evaluate a multitude of things. If you do read Heartwaves, it would be awesome if you wrote a review on Amazon or Goodreads or Storygraph or told a friend about it or requested your library purchase it. Mostly, I hope you have a good summer, too.
Much love and hope for a ceasefire,
anita
